A Spirit of Wealth

vines

I previously sacrificed a money-making servitor to create a Talisman of Cultivation. This servitor had taken the form of a triple-faced femme fatale bound into a golden pothos plant. I saved a small cutting from the sacrifice with the intention of rebirthing this servitor with a more focused purpose. Classical lottery-style money magic isn't really my strong suit. I seem to have more success casting directly for the things I need. I care less about being rich and more about being comfortable. Instead of focusing the servitor on the acquisition of money, I planned to focus it more on the general acquisition of "wealth."

Applied Astrology

When approaching the creation of a spirit of wealth, I started with trying to nail down my specific goal. I wanted material wealth, comfort, and well-being. To me this says my goal is in the realm of elemental Earth, specifically fixed and persistent Earth also known as Taurus. Venus rules Taurus, so this might suggest a Venusian working.

I planned to bind this spirit to a plant (golden pothos). Plants need sunshine, so I'd like to add a Solar aspect to this working. Based on my study of traditional astrology, I know to avoid solar conjunctions (combustion). I also know that an elemental trine is a beneficial aspect. This means I should put the Sun in Capricorn or Virgo (earth signs). Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and lies on the Wintery side of the Zodiac. This doesn't seem appropriate to the working. Virgo on the other hand, seems more appropriate. Mercury rules Virgo, so it seems there's also a place for Mercury.

Finally, this whole working would probably benefit from my Talisman of Cultivation which is Jupiterian. I'll place Jupiter in Taurus in conjunction with Venus. The final arrangement has Venus in domicile in Taurus, conjunct the greater benefic Jupiter, and trine the Sun in Virgo. I could keep going by adding another aspect with Mercury, but I felt this was sufficient for the task.

Materials

Both Agrippa and Picatrix repeatedly stress the importance of material components. Celestial configurations are akin to providing the programming code while arranging the material components actually compiles and executes the code. In this case, I already have planetary materials from my natural magic bones-to-talismans project. However, I'd like to add some materials to reflect the extra dimension represented by the signs. For Virgo, I already had a handful of acorns I used to maintain the previous servitor. I leave these acorns on the window sill to absorb sunlight and cycle them from the window to the plant and back to the window. The promise of life hidden in an acorn seed felt very Virgo to me.

For Taurus, I chose some potting soil. If I had it on hand, I suppose some well-composted cow manure would have been more ideal. Manure would probably have been more in the spirit of Picatrix, as well. Nonetheless, I only had some potting mix in the house, so I used that.

Seals

When it came to employing symbols for this working, I found I was overwhelmed with options. The planetary squares in Book II of Agrippa seem very popular, as do the accompanying sigils. Picatrix presents its own set of symbols, as well. However, I've grown strangely fond of the chiromantic planetary seals from Book I. I've taken to calling these paper talismans "scripts." For this experiment, I'll stick the chiromantic seals and Greek letters I used for natural magic.

At the top of the talisman is ΛΙ for the Sun in Virgo, the source of power for this spirit. Next are the planetary seals of Mercury from Book I of Agrippa. Below that are ΟΓΕ for Venus and Jupiter in Taurus. Finally, at the bottom is my standard composite symbol for the elemental sphere. In summary, I gather solar energy in Virgo from which Mercury dispenses it to Taurus where Venus and Jupiter put it to work cultivating wealth.

Charging

I arranged the acorns and my Talisman of Health near the top of the paper talisman with my Talismans of Inspiration and Cultivation in the soil near the bottom. I then charged the paper talisman using the Charms of Radiance, Cultivation, Discretion, and Inspiration.

I placed the paper talisman under the pot in which I planted the golden pothos cutting. I sacrificed a stick of incense and called up the spirit of the plant. I saw a woman with long red hair and thick framed glasses standing before me in a long black trench coat. I charged her with acquiring items necessary for a comfortable life and bringing to my attention ways to conserve resources. I gave her a name and waited for affirmation that she understood the assignment.

Operation

I leave a pot of acorns on the window sill. On sunny days, I retrieve an acorn and ignite the stored sunlight in it, creating a little sun. I place the little sun in the pot with the golden pothos. I guide the solar power into the plant and direct the spirit there to bring us wealth. During times when I need something more specific, I ask for that instead. As the power in the little sun dissipates and turns back into an acorn, I return it to the window to start the cycle over again.

Results

The following weeks saw multiple manifestations of quirks and timing working in my favor. I got a work reimbursement that normally takes 2-4 weeks in two days. System errors have worked in my favor with regards to travel perks and reimbursements. My grocery bill is trending down. Note that I directed the spirit to bring "us" wealth, by which I meant our household. As a result, my roommate's friends have also been showering her with cash and expensive gifts that they suddenly have no use for.
